Cold stimulus applied to the skin can spot reduce the subcutaneous fat underneath. Our “Hybrid” packs have been shown capable of reproducing the requirements needed to induce this effect, however they are not endorsed for this usage, as it can be easy to get cryoburn on the skin.
There are copycat cold wraps popping up on the market, claiming to allow “DIY coolsculpting.” These products do not work, and are scams. To actually cause spot reduction via cold exposure, the skin must be held at a temperature much colder when their product will induce… cold enough to potentially cause cryoburn. That’s why coolsculpting is an actual medical procedure, and why we don’t endorse our packs for that usage… it’s too risky to use in that capacity.
For a detailed look at our experiment with spot-reduction and “DIY coolsculpting,” you can watch our experiment on the Gut Buster and spot reduction.
